The most common experience patients report is feeling relaxed. Acupuncture impacts the nervous system, taking it from sympathetic (fight, flight, freeze) into parasympathetic (rest and digest). It is in this parasympathetic state that the body can focus on healing. You may also feel nothing until 24 hours pass while some patients require multiple treatments before experiencing results. It simply depends on the condition, how long it’s been around and what outside factors may be influencing the treatment. After your visit rest is recommended to allow the body to acclimate. Going into a stressful meeting, workout or event can shift the body out of the healing state.

A patient can find themselves with needles inserted anywhere from 10-30 minutes. This depends on the style of acupuncture used and what is appropriate for the condition and the patient. 

The most common are bruising, light bleeding or tenderness in the area of needle insertion, light headedness or feeling tired after treatment. This doesn’t mean that treatment wasn't effective but these are phenomenons that can happen.

Generally an average of 12 but it can be as low as 1 and as many as 40 depending on technique, sensitivity or what is needed. Non-insertive techniques could also be used, meaning the needle is placed on the skin but doesn’t penetrate through the skin. This is commonly used in Japanese style acupuncture. 

The first appointment includes an extensive intake with a review of relevant medical history, tongue and pulse diagnosis and, if necessary, orthopedic testing. The treatment is then customized to your specific needs. Needles used in acupuncture treatments are sterile, individually packaged and vary in width and length. They are closer in width to a human hair than hypodermic needles used to administer shots. For example, the barrel of one hypodermic needle can fit as many as 18 acupuncture needles.

Treatment can include any combination of acupuncture, moxibustion therapy, body work or guided meditation. Acupuncture treatment can be administered seated, laying facedown, face up or side lying. In some cases needles are removed and you may be asked to move into a different position for the second half of your treatment. Just as you change moment to moment, day to day, week to week, it is common for the acupuncture treatments to change over time to get the desired therapeutic affect.

General Late and No-Show Policy

Late Arrival:

If you arrive more than 15 minutes late to a scheduled appointment, the appointment will be considered missed (a "no-show"), terminated, and you will be charged the full Time of Service (TOS) fee.

Cancellations and Rescheduling:

Appointments must be canceled or rescheduled at least 48 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time to avoid a fee.

Late Cancellations and No-Shows:

Cancellations made within 48 hours of a scheduled appointment, or failure to attend an appointment (no-show), will result in a fee equivalent to the full Time of Service (TOS) fee for that appointment.

Payment of Fees:

All applicable fees will be automatically charged to the credit or debit card securely stored on file.

Specific Policies for OHP and VA Clients

We have different procedures for clients utilizing OHP or VA benefits, as we cannot charge a fee for missed appointments under these programs.

• Cancellations within 48 hours or no-shows will not result in a direct fee.

• However, if a client misses or cancels three (3) appointments with less than 48 hours' notice, future appointments will be restricted to same-day scheduling only.

• If a client subsequently fails to attend a same-day scheduled appointment, Meeha Mindbody LLC reserves the right to discontinue services with that client.

Specific Policies for Medical Specialists

We recognize that the demanding and unpredictable schedules of medical specialists may require last-minute adjustments.

• If a medical specialist cancels within the 48-hour window due to work-related scheduling changes, they will be charged half (50%) of the full Time of Service (TOS) fee for that specific appointment.

• This fee will be charged to the credit or debit card on file.

Includes acupuncture and Chinese herbal formulas.

Follow-up Acupuncture with Gua Sha or Cupping

$140 - 75 minutes 

Includes acupuncture with Gua Sha or Cupping massage.

Alpha-Stim Therapy

On it's own or as an addition to any service.

Insurance Policy

It is the patient's responsibility to verify coverage for acupuncture and/or manual therapy. If insurance denies coverage the patient is responsible for paying the Time of Service Fee.
