Acupuncture for Car Accident Recovery in Portland
PIP-Accepted Care for Whiplash, Soft Tissue Injury, and Post-Accident Stress

You got into a car accident, and it's more than a physical event - it's a shock to your entire nervous system. When your body stays in "high alert" long after the collision, that stress response can actually slow your healing and make pain linger longer than it should.

At Meeha Mindbody Acupuncture, we treat the physical trauma of an accident and the nervous system response that comes with it, using a blend of Chinese, Japanese, and orthopedic acupuncture, herbal medicine, bodywork, and Alpha-Stim therapy.

We work with PIP (Personal Injury Protection) claims and are ready to see you quickly - early treatment supports both your recovery and your claim.

Led By Someone Who's Been Where You Are

Dr. Denise Adán, DACM, L.Ac., didn't choose this specialty by accident. After enduring four separate car accidents in her youth, she spent years with chronic pain and structural dysfunction that conventional chiropractic care, massage, and physical therapy couldn't resolve. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine finally restored her mobility and relieved her pain — which is why motor vehicle and injury recovery became one of her clinical specialties.

She and fellow practitioner Mandalyn Ivy Bunker, L.Ac. — both trained at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine — bring that same combination of clinical training and lived understanding to every accident-recovery patient at Meeha.

What We Commonly Treat

  • Whiplash and neck strain

  • Back, shoulder, and joint pain from impact

  • Soft tissue injury and muscle "stagnation" or tightness

  • Headaches and tension following a collision

  • Nervous system dysregulation — anxiety, brain fog, trouble sleeping after trauma

  • Slow-healing bruising, inflammation, and restricted movement

We also have specific experience supporting patients managing underlying conditions like MS, dysautonomia, diabetes, PTSD, or high blood pressure alongside accident recovery

Why Meeha Mindbody

  • Three acupuncture traditions in one clinic — Chinese, Japanese, and orthopedic needling, chosen based on what your body needs that day

  • Alpha-Stim Therapy for the "invisible" symptoms after an accident — anxiety, brain fog, and sleep disruption — alongside physical pain relief

  • Herbal medicine and bodywork (Tuina, Shiatsu, cupping, gua sha) to support tissue recovery between visits

  • A calm, unhurried intake — pulse and tongue diagnosis, orthopedic testing where needed, and a treatment plan built around your specific injury

Bodywork

In the aftermath of an accident, your muscles often hold onto tension and "stagnation"—a feeling of being stuck or tight as the body tries to protect itself. At Meeha Mindbody, I incorporate therapeutic bodywork into every recovery plan to help your tissues breathe, move, and heal again.

Chinese Herbs and Supplements

In the journey toward healing after an accident, what we put into our bodies is just as important as the physical care we receive. I often recommend a thoughtful blend of supplements and Chinese Herbs to support your recovery from two distinct, yet complementary, angles.

Alpha-Stim Therapy

When treating someone recovering from a motor vehicle accident, the focus often shifts to how the mind and body hold onto the trauma of the impact. Alpha-Stim Therapy bridges the gap between physical pain and the "invisible" symptoms like anxiety or "brain fog" that often follow a collision or traumatic brain injury.

Acupuncture

To help you better understand the diverse ways we can support your recovery, I’ve organized our specialized acupuncture approaches into a clear guide. This allows us to select the most effective "tool" for your body’s specific state on any given day.

You don't have to wait for the pain to get worse to start healing. Same-week appointments are available for accident-related visits.
